Sign Language Interpreted performances
All Stephen Joseph Theatre shows have at least one performance which is interpreted in British Sign Language.
Please inform the Box Office when booking that you will be watching the signer.
Audio Described performances
All Stephen Joseph Theatre shows have at least one performance that is audio described for blind and partially sighted customers. The on-stage action is relayed through the headsets by a professional audio describer. We offer Touch tours before each audio described performance giving a guided tour of the set.
Open Captioning
The Stephen Joseph Theatre provides regular captioned performances. Captioning converts the spoken word on stage into text, which is displayed on a small digital box situated in the auditorium. Audience members who are deaf or hard of hearing can follow what is being said and by whom. Sound effects are also included.
Please state at the time of booking that you require a seat with a view of the caption box.
Audio programmes are available free on request, the evening of an audio described performance.
We welcome Access Dogs at the theatre. They can stay with you in the auditorium if you wish or be looked after by a member of staff. Please inform the Box Office that you will be bringing an Access Dog.
