Big Kids is a storytelling show about four Norfolk teenagers who want to stay kids forever. Then one of them loses their single parent, two of them get pregnant and the other starts to transition.
The play is an exploration of growing up, queer teenage life in coastal Norfolk and how we all perform adulthood.
James McDermott is a queer writer based in East Anglia. Their plays published by Samuel French include Rubber Ring (Pleasance Islington/UK Tour) and Time and Tide (Park Theatre; Offie nominated for Best New Play 2020). Their other plays include The Birds and The Bees (New Wolsey/East of England tour) and Robin Good: The Politico Panto (Norwich Playhouse). James is currently developing new plays with Eastern Angles and Mercury Theatre Colchester. They are also one of the writers on EastEnders.
