Price: £7, £6 concessions, £5 SJT+ cardholders
When American writer James Lord (Armie Hammer) takes a short trip to Paris in 1964, he unexpectedly finds himself being asked to pose for a portrait by his friend, Alberto Giacometti (Geoffrey Rush).
Initially flattered at the honour of being the subject of a world-renowned artist, Lord agrees and so begins a process more chaotic and drawn out than he anticipated.
But, while the sitting turns out to be less than straightforward, it gives Lord the chance to build a deeper bond with Giacometti and presents the opportunity to understand what it is to be an artist searching for perfection. What unfolds is a fascinating and moving tale of friendship between two men, both at very different stages of their respective lives and careers.
Final Portrait debuted at the Berlin International Film Festival to rapturous applause, with critics praising both the lead performances and humorous tone.
Written and directed by actor Stanley Tucci (The Hunger Games, The Devil Wears Prada), the film stars Armie Hammer (Nocturnal Animals) and Geoffrey Rush (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales).
