Spine-tingling tales of the supernatural from E.F. Benson’s brilliant collection of ghost stories, Night Terrors.

Masterful storytelling from Gerard Logan, who from the deceptive comfort of an easy chair will transport you to a darker, more sinister world where the unexpected and the unexplainable will intrigue and disturb.

E. F. Benson is now most famous for his humorous series of novels exploring the world of Mapp and Lucia, but in the mid-twentieth century he was more renowned as the author of what he called “spook stories”. The tales are dramatic, haunting and hugely memorable.

Night Terrors will be directed and dramatised by the award-winning Gareth Armstrong.

★★★★★
"Logan is astounding... Every plea and woe etched on his face. He takes a strong script and flies it to the stars"
Steve Stratford, Edinburgh Festival 2016

★★★★★
"Watching Logan work is like being privy to a wonder of nature and remains with you... A true masterpiece of solo performance"
The Edinburgh Guide, Edinburgh Festival 2015

Gerard Logan is widely acknowledged as an outstanding exponent of the solo performance, and has won acclaim and awards for his shows: The Rape of Lucrece (Shakespeare) and Wilde Without the Boy (Gareth Armstrong’s dramatisation of Oscar Wilde’s De Profundis).

Trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art where he won the Bancroft Gold Medal and other credits include leading roles in TV, film, radio and classical and contemporary theatre roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company (where he received an Olivier Award)

Gerard won The Stage Newspaper’s Best Solo Performer Award at the 2011 Edinburgh Festival for his performance in Shakespeare’s great narrative poem The Rape of Lucrece which, alongside Wilde Without the Boy and The Ballad of Reading Gaol he is currently touring internationally. He recently won the Best Actor award at the 2014 Buxton Fringe Theatre Festival for his performance in Wilde Without the Boy.

Gareth has combined the roles of actor, director, writer and teacher throughout a career that has taken to him to over fifty countries.  He has been a member of the RSC, worked at Shakespeare’s Globe and in the West End. He has directed a wide repertoire of work all over the UK as well as in Europe and America.

He created his own one-man show, Shylock, touring internationally for ten years. Since then he has specialised in creating solo theatre pieces with other performers and playwrights, and has written a book on the subject – So You Want To Do A Solo Show published by Nick Hern Books.
