OutReach: Get Involved

The Stephen Joseph Theatre OutReach department are committed to working with all ages within our community. We have a great range of activities for adults including acting classes and singing groups, performance opportunities for the actors out there as well as opportunities to showcase scriptwriting talent in our Plays and Pinot events. There are lots of opportunities for everybody, so what are you waiting for? Get involved!

A selection of WEA (Workers' Educational Association) courses for adults are held at the SJT. Each 10 week course is available FREE to anyone claiming benefits (including working tax credits), and otherwise costs £70. Classes must be booked in advance.

Adult Rounders

Tuesday 6.30 - 8.30pm

Lively, sociable theatre classes for adults which explore contemporary and traditional theatre techniques with occasional performances in unusual venues.

Global Voices Choir

Thursdays 7 - 8.30pm

Singing a range of songs from around the world, everything from blues to African music.

Funky Choir

Tuesdays 7 - 8.30pm

Dementia Friendly Dance

Thursdays 11am-1pm

Gentle, creative, non-judgemental dance and movement particularly appropriate for people living with dementia. Includes cake!

Play Reading

Wednesdays 11.30am - 1.30pm

Fun and friendly sessions for people who like to explore the work of different playwrights. Aimed at the over-50’s (or thereabouts). We look at themes, stories and the history of the plays and read excerpts over tea and biscuits.

You can choose from two different session times, both running every other Tuesday.
