From April 2018, Shop at the SJT will occupy a transformed retail space, complete with a new period window. The window is a first for the Makers Collective, as it will allow customers to see the unique collection of crafts and bespoke gifts from the street outside.
Lynne Arnison, chairperson of the collective, said:
“We are delighted to be part of the theatre’s exciting new developments and to have an improved shop area. The SJT is one of the most iconic landmarks along the Yorkshire Coast, and our eclectic group of Makers create gifts that match their beautiful surroundings. The ‘window on the world’ will make a huge difference to Shop at the SJT, as our creations can be seen from the outside for the first time!”
The work at the theatre is part of its Transforming the SJT project, costing over £500,000 of Arts Council funding and public donations.
The Shop at the SJT will be open during evening performances, and anyone interested in joining the Makers’ Collective should contact Vince Lees, Maker Coordinator, on 01723 850903 or 07894749603.
