The show will go on (we’re just not sure when…)

To all our valued customers

We wanted to let you know that the SJT is going to be closed for the foreseeable future – we really hope to be up and running again as soon as possible but, of course, we can’t say for sure when that will be.

Until further notice, we're closed until the autumn. But if things start to change for the better before that, we can get up and running quite quickly, with two shows almost ready to go.

Jim Cartwright’s TWO, our co-production with Hull Truck Theatre, was due to run there from 5 to 28 March, and then come to us from 31 March to 18 April. This show is pretty much ready to go - just a couple of days re-rehearsal and the show would go on…

We were also well advanced with our preparations for the Easter family show, Saviour Pirotta’s adaptation of Little Red Riding Hood. The set is built and the actors are primed and just need a couple of weeks’ rehearsal – that could also be on our stage quite quickly.

We could also bring in films for our cinema at relatively short notice, plus schedule a few rehearsed playreadings… we could actually pull together a programme of great entertainment for you quite quickly. Here’s hoping!

Our box office team is working remotely to manage cancellations and will be in touch with customers with bookings that are affected. It would really help reduce pressure on our team if you could wait for them to get in touch with you rather than calling us; thank you for your patience at this difficult time.

If you feel able to do so, we’d be delighted if you’d consider donating the value, or part of the value, of your ticket to the theatre, or to have it credited to your account, rather than refunded.

If you would like to support us through these challenging times you can do so here.
